   The presence of wild birds in nature adds a delightful element with their sweet songs and brilliant splashes of color. In our backyards, woodlands and wetlands, each species of bird has different appearances and songs, providing enjoyment for many people. In my bird nature paintings, creating their individual characteristics, feathers and plumage accurately is a satisfying challenge. Fine details such as creating individual feathers and the uniqe markings on birds can be a tedious job, but in keeping each bird painting as natural as possible, I take time so you will see that they result in a realistic appearance.

Common Loon Paintings 

   Common Loons are one of my favorite bird painting subjects, because of their incredibly unique appearance, compared to other water birds.  Using my own realistic painting style, I capture each unique characteristic, with their black and white checkered backs, maroon eyes, flat shaped heads and distinct white necklace around their throats.
